DAY 1:

LONDON - TORP - OSLO

We pick you up at the hotel and drive you to the airport from where we take a flight to Torp.You meet your DG at the airport, board your maxi-van and start your expedition along the shores of Oslofjord. Dinner and overnight in the capital of Norway, Oslo.

DAY 2:

OSLO

Breakfast. We have all day for exploring the city. We see the Stortinget ( the Parliament of Norway), the National Theatre, the King's Palace, a famous red-brick Townhouse, take a stroll through the beautiful Vigeland's park and take a break at the Aker Brygge waterfront with its wealth of restaurants and bars. After that we visit Oslo's farmers market and have some free time as well. Overnight in Oslo.

DAY 3:

BYGDOY MUSEUMS - HOLMENKOLLEN

Breakfast. After breakfast we depart for the nearby peninsula Bygdoy which is very well known for its beautiful museums. You have all day for exploring the peninsula and visiting the Norway Folk Museum, the House of Viking Ships, the Kon Tiki Museum, the Maritime Museum and lots more. In the afternoon we may drive to the Holmenkollen jumping center and enjoy the beautiful views over the Oslofjord. Overnight in Oslo.

DAY 4:

TELEMARK - ODDA

Breakfast. Depart for the county of Telemark. We make a few stops along the way for panoramic views of the beautiful countryside. If you know the story of the Telemark heroes, and how they probably prevented Hitler from getting an atomic bomb before the Allies, you will see where all this took place. In the afternoon we come to Odda, a small town in the center of the area of Hardanger. Odda is located at the end of the Hardanger fjord surrounded by mountains. Overnight in Odda area.

DAY 5:

VORING WATERFALL - BERGEN

Breakfast. Our first stop of the day is the Voring Waterfall. We continue our tour to the city of Bergen also known as "The Gateway to the Fjords". We visit Bryggen, the old part of Bergen with wooden houses dating from the early 18C, Saint Mary's Church, the very lively fishmarket, Torgalmenningen, the Main Square, and you also have time to ride the cable car up to Mt. Floyen for a fantastic view. Overnight in Bergen.

DAY 6:

GEIRANGER

Breakfast. Our expedition continues along the Atlantic coasts where you can expect a lot of short tunnels and ferry crossings. We cross the biggest fjord, Sogfnefjord, and after a few more fjords and lakes we arrive in the town of Geiranger, which is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Overnight in Gerianger area.

DAY 7:

TROLLROAD - ANDALSNES

Breakfast. We drive along the steep Trollroad where you get the chance to find out about Norway's myths and legends, buy some souvenirs and maybe meet some trolls and other mysterious creatures from the Scandinavian underworld. Later that day we arrive in the Andalsnes area where we stay overnight.

DAY 8:

TRONDHEIM - GRONG

Breakfast. Trondheim was one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Middle Ages. Today it's the centre of education. We visit the main city sights, among others the very popular Nidaros Cathedral, the Kristiansten Fortress, Munkholmen - the prison island, and if we have time maybe the Ringue Museum, a museum of musical instruments. Overnigth in Grong area.

DAY 9:

LOFOTEN ISLANDS

Breakfast. After some driving through the wild northern scenery we arrive at the steel city of Mo I Rana on the edge of the Arctic Circle. At Bode, we take a ferry across to the Islands of Lofoten, famous for their tranquility, beauty and animal life. Overnight in Bode/Lofoten Islands area.

DAY 10 & 11:

LOFOTEN ISLANDS

Breakfast. For the next two days we explore the exceptional beauty of the islands with their mountains and peaks, stretches of seashore and large areas of unspoiled land. Lofoten has a very high density of sea eagles, cormorants, puffins, otters, elks etc. We will also try to spot some whales. Overnights in the Lofoten Islands area

DAY 12:

LOFOTEN ISLANDS - ALTA

Breakfast. We return to the mainland and proceed further north to the county of Finnmark and along the river Altaelva, which has carved out one of the largest canyons in Europe. Alta is also well-known for its rock carvings from 3C. Overnight in the Alta area.

DAY 13:

NORDKAPP

Breakfast. Depart towards Nordkapp or North Cape. This 307 m high cliff is referred to as the northernmost point in Europe. Nordkapp became famous in 1553 when the English explorer Richard Chancellor rounded it. Overnight in the Nordkapp area.

DAY 14 & 15:

LAPLAND

Breakfast. As we have come as far north as we possibly can with our maxi-van, it is time to turn back south and enter Finland. For the next two days we will get to know the Sami people and their culture, food and their way of life. Lappland spans over all four (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia) northern countries. We will visit the area around the Lake Inari. Overnights in Lappland.

DAY 16:

ROVANIEMI

Breakfast. We continuing towards Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland. Rovaniemi is very close to the Arctic Circle so this is our exit from the Arctic. We visit Jatkankyttila Bridge, with its eternal flame, over the Kemijoki river, Rovaniemi Town Hall, the Lappia House and of course the residence of Santa Claus and Santapark. Overnight in the Rovaniemi area.

DAY 17:

YVASKILLA

Breakfast. The expedition takes us to the south and along the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia to the heart of the Lake region of Finland. There is more water than land in this area which mainly produces timber. The town of Yvaskilla is known as the Alvar Aalto town because the famous, innovative architect grew up here and constructed a lot of its buildings. Overnight in the area.

DAY 18:

LAHTI - HELSINKI

Breakfast. This is one of the most interesting days as we drive along and over the Paijanne lake. Lahti, which is better known as a winter resort is our first stop. In the afternoon we arrive in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. This evening we visit Kauppatori, the main square with its many restaurants, bars, live music and shops. Overnight in Helsinki.

DAY 19:

HELSINKI

Breakfast. "The Daughter of the Baltic Sea" is the other name for Helsinki. We use the whole day for exploring the city. We visit the Senate Square, the Town Hall, Sibelius Park, the famous Cave Church, Parliament, the Botanical Garden, the National Theatre and some markets. Overnight in Helsinki.

DAY 20:

TURKU

Breakfast. In the afternoon we continue our expedition to Turku, the oldest city in Finland, where we visit the Cathedral of Turku, Turku Castle, Market Square and stroll along the banks of the River Aura. Dinner and overnight in Turku area.

DAY 21:

TAMPERE - LONDON

Breakfast. Drive to Tampere airport and take the flight to London. End of the excursion.
