DAY 1:

LONDON - TRIESTE - PULA

We pick you up at your selected hotel in London and drive you to the airport from where we take the morning flight to Trieste. You meet your DG at the airport, board your maxi-van and start the expedition. We arrive into the Croatian Istria, and the first stop on this peninsula is the ancient hill village of Motovun, an artists’ favourite. On the tip of Istra lies Pula. We stroll the part of the city that’s close to the amphitheatre. Dinner and overnight in Pula area.

DAY 2:

PULA - LOSINJ - ZADAR

Breakfast. We take a ferry to the near-by island of Cres and drive to the next island - which is called Losinj. Both islands have interesting little towns, where we make stops along the way. In the afternoon we take another ferry from Losinj to Zadar. Late arrival and overnight in Zadar.

DAY 3:

ZADAR - KRKA WATERFALLS - SIBENIK CATHEDRAL

Breakfast. Zadar was a capital of Byzantine Dalmatia and features many different architectural faces from the Roman times on. We proceed with our expedition by land to the beautiful area around the river Krka and it's waterfalls. In Sibenik we check out the most important cathedral in this part of the world. Overnight in Sibenik area.

DAY 4:

KORNATI - TROGIR

Breakfast. Weather permiting, we take a boat around the beautiful Kornati Archipelago and enjoy a fish-picnic. After that we spent a day in one of the best preserved mediveal ports along the Adriatic coast - Trogir. A stroll through the UNESCO heritage town with it's white stone paved streets is a special experience. Overnight in Trogir area.

DAY 5:

SPLIT - KORCULA

Breakfast. Town Split may have ugly communist blocks in the surrounding suburbs, but it’s core is still more or less intact. It is the enormous Diokletian Palace, which takes up the central part of the city and which is even more interesting as it is a living-breathing space and not just a monument. In the afternoon we take another ferry - this time to the island of Korcula. Late arrival and overnight in Korcula.

DAY 6:

KORCULA

Breakfast. Today we relax in this beautiful old town, which may be a bit touristic these days, as many cruises stop here for a day, but it is still worth seing and strolling the narrow streets of the old walled city. Overnight in Korcula.

DAY 7:

KORCULA - DUBROVNIK

Breakfast. We drive over the island to the narrow Peljesac peninsula. Peljesac is well known for its local wine - which we taste along with the fresh oysters in the little village of Ston, which may have one of the longest walls, you will see anywhere. In the afternoon we arrive to the pearl of the Adriatic - Dubrovnik. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

DAY 8:

DUBROVNIK

Breakfast. Dubrovnik has a walled historic center, which was reconstructed several times in it's tumultuous history of earthquakes and wars. The last attempt of destroying it, was in 1991-2 when 2000 shells fell on the main street of Stradun and various monuments and bastions of the city. We see all the sights and walk the walls, the total circuit of which is over 2 km long. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

DAY 9:

DUBROVNIK - MOSTAR

Breakfast. From Dubrovnik we drive along the Neretva river towards Mostar, where we arrive in the afternoon. This is the place which in spite of the damages in the last war, still preserves the ancient architecture. We visit a traditional old house and walk over the recently rebuilt Mostar Bridge, over the emerald green river. Overnight in Mostar.

DAY 10:

SARAJEVO

Breakfast. Sarajevo, the last European city to be under siege is slowly getting his face back. This Olympic city used to be the most popular of all Yugoslav federal capitals. We stroll the city center and see the sights like Bascarsija and Begova dzamija mosque, and the tunnel, which was the safe haven from the snipers. Overnight in Mostar.

DAY 11:

MOSTAR - PLITVICE

Breakfast. Before we return to Croatia, we may have a short stop at Medugorje, a famous pilgrimage center. The main stop of the day though is a striking natural site - the Plitvice lakes. The travertine terraces has been continuously reforming for 10.000 years, thus forming cascades and barriers. We walk the Upper and Lower Lakes of this UNESCO protected natural wonder. Overnight in Plitvice area.

DAY 12:

PLITVICE - ZAGREB

Breakfast. Zagreb, the capital, is the biggest town and cultural, industrial and commercial center. The architecture is different from what we have seen in the previous days, as Zagreb is very much a central European town with Austro-Hungarian feeling. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.

DAY 13:

ZAGREB - LONDON

Breakfast. Drive to the airport and fly to London. End of our expedition.
